An installation comes into being when someone truly starts to use it. Organizing any summit is a rare and wonderful adventure; bringing together exceptional people to think about the future is still more wonderful.

The 1st Class Editori Summit is an experience in education and interchange; speaking about the Summit months later, in another city in another part of the world, in China or the United States, will be yet another thing. The Summit of Italian Economic Leaders brings forth Italy’s contributions to the creation of the world’s future treasures, building on those from the Italian past.

The summit guests enter a reactivated workspace, to come to grips with the issues of their own futures and their shared future. At the entrance, 3D printers fabricate products, serving as a kind of metaphorical portrait of Italian production and its extraordinary «background landscape» of history, agriculture and nature.

Entering from the main hall, the guests arrive at the summit agora. At a central editorial point, animators gather, record, select and organize concepts and ideas; create connections and texts; expose the big questions; offere solutions. An enormous sheet of paper, 3.5 by 28 meters, is gradually filled with notes, titles, concepts; a graphic artist highligh the key points of the discussion.

The day’s work is supported by a kitchen in full view, producing baskets of nutritious goodies to fuel the speakers’ efforts. Everything is visible, like in Greek theatre. In the days that follow, students and visitors will use the agora installation to understand, to continue to evolve and deepen the summit concepts. With these visitors, the editorial work continues, serving as the useful heritage of the summit. The completed installation will stand as a voice of its own, presenting Italy to the world: a fresco painted by the participants.
